The lastest HongKong movie release out in scene. Produced by actor Gordon Lam and Andy Lau’s Focus Films, Derek Kwok and Clement Cheng’s “Gallants” is an entertaining tribute film that revives old-school Hong Kong martial arts action in a 21st century context. Eschewing the new trend of cultural-based heroism defining contemporary Chinese action films, “Gallants” is a fun action-comedy about the old versus the new and the simple joys of getting into a good fight. If you are a big Japan manga fan like me, you should know about Gantz. There are two live action movies adapted from the manga series this year. And here is the first one. The DVDRip was released by Asian group CoWRY in 2CD size, sub is included.Shot as a two-part film, the first part sets up the Gantz puzzle with explosive violence, amazingly rendered special effects, and plenty of burning questions for audiences to ponder before the story reaches its exciting conclusion in Perfect Answer. While a large part of part two is altered from the original comic for the film, part one remains mostly faithful to the source material, featuring classic battles with alien creatures like the onion-head alien and the giant Buddha statue that will leave the audience breathless. One day, Kurono Kei (Ninomiya Kazunari) reunites with childhood friend Kato Masaru (Matsuyama Kenichi) in a subway station when they both help save a man on the tracks. After the two get killed in the process, they find themselves waking up in an empty room with a black orb in the center. Soon, they figure out that the orb sends them on missions to fight strange alien creatures, and each mission can help players earn points that go towards redeeming their own life back. While the two attempt to figure out the rules of the game, Kuruno falls for fellow player Kishimoto Kei (Natsuna), who is actually in love with Kato instead.

Earlier tonight I posted the movie “The Detective”, and here is the DVDRip for the sequal released by group CoWRY earlier this week. Claiming to be sequel, actually there isn’t much connection between the two movies except the lead star Aaron Kwok, who plays the detective. Director Oxide Pang’s stylish 2007 mystery was considered one of the best solo efforts from the Pang Brothers, and this time he returns to Bangkok with stars Aaron Kwok and Liu Kai Chi for an even more suspenseful crime-solving adventure.Bumbling private detective Chan Tam (Aaron Kwok) is enlisted by police pal Fung Chak (Liu Kai Chi) to help in the investigation of a serial murder case. The victims – a middle-aged man killed at home, a dead woman found in the trash dump, and a teenage girl slain in the park – were all killed in grisly manners, but they didn’t seem related to each other. Without any clue to follow up on, Tam is decidedly at his wits’ end. But when Chak is seriously wounded by a mysterious assailant, Tam deduces that the only way to uncover the truth is to get into the mind of the deranged killer, and in so doing he is forced to face a long-hidden side of himself…

New Asian film released by CoWRY, it’s in Chinese however comes with subtitles. Based on a true story – which is pretty tough to believe. Jump! Ashin strains credibility thanks to its convenient plot devices, though the narrative leaps are supposedly the stuff of fact. The fine performances (from Eddie Peng and Ko Yue-Lun) and solid emotions compensate. A very likable film.Ashin loves gymnastics. As a kid, he was quickly hooked and as an adult it’s his number one love. Yes, more than girls, and this is despite looking like Eddie Peng and probably having his pick of women in his rural Taiwan town. However, Ashin’s mother (Pan Li-Li) disapproves of gymnastics and asks that Ashin give it up to run the family fruit stand for, well, eternity. Ashin does, but soon becomes a delinquent, hanging with buddy Pickles (Lawrence Ko Yue-Lun) and getting into all sorts of trouble. Pickles becomes a drug addict and the two run afoul of a gang boss’ son (Chen Han-Dian), so Ashin and Pickles flee to Taipei and continue their thug lifestyle. But gymnastics is always there, calling to Ashin like a long-lost love. Eventually, Ashin chooses to return home and back to the pommel horse, but can a loser like Ashin still find it in himself to become a medal-winning gymnast? And hey, isn’t this a totally ridiculous premise?

Directed by Kevin Macdonald from a script by Jeremy Brock, the film is set in the 2nd century AD and tells of a young Roman officer’s search to discover the truth about the disappearance of his father’s legion in the north of Britain. In 140 AD, a young Roman centurion attempts to uncover the truth about the disappearance of his father’s legion—the Ninth—in the north of Britain 20 years previously. The centurion, Marcus Aquila (Tatum), travels with a British slave, Esca (Bell), beyond Hadrian’s Wall into Caledonia (now known as Scotland) where he must confront the Pictish tribes to recover the legion’s eagle standard and restore his father’s reputation. The two are found by the Seal People, the most vicious of the tribes, and Esca claims that Marcus is his slave and betrays him in order to get his freedom.
