A young lion prince is born in Africa, thus making his uncle Scar the second in line to the throne. Scar plots with the hyenas to kill King Mufasa and Prince Simba, thus making himself King. The King is killed and Simba is led to believe by Scar that it was his fault, and so flees the kingdom in shame. After years of exile he is persuaded to return home to overthrow the usurper and claim the kingdom as his own thus completing the “Circle of Life”.

The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride is a 1998 American direct-to-video animated film released by Walt Disney.The film is the sequel to the 1994 Disney animated film The Lion King.Based loosely off of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the film centers around Simba’s daughter, Kiara, who falls in love with Kovu, a male lion who was raised in a pride of Scar’s followers, the Outsiders. Desperate to be together, they must overcome the two obstacles that are keeping them apart: Kovu’s mother, Zira, and Simba’s prejudices against the Outlanders. Simba and Nala have a daughter, Kiara. Timon and Pumbaa are assigned to be her babysitters, but she easily escapes their care and ventures into the forbidden lands. There she meets a lion cub named Kovu and they become friends. What she and her parents do not know is that Kovu is the son of Zira – a banished follower of the now-dead Scar. She plans to raise Kovu to overthrow Simba and become the king of the Pride Lands. This tests not only Kiara and Kovu’s relationship as they mature, but Simba’s relationship with his daughter.

English subtitle is muxed in the video. Gail, an expert at white water rafting, takes her family on a trip down the river to their family’s house. Along the way, the family encounters two men who are unexperienced rafters that need to find their friends down river. Later, the family finds out that the pair of men are armed robbers. The men then physically force the family to take them down the river to meet their accomplices. The rafting trip for the family is definitely ruined, but most importantly, their lives are at stake.

Louis Malle, a friend of Gregory’s, became interested in the project and spent two weeks filming Gregory’s actors as they performed Uncle Vanya without an audience in a run-down theater near New York’s Times Square. In these performances, the line between theater and real life is blurred as conversations between actors — juggling take-out cups of coffee and wearing street clothes — slowly grow into a superb performance of Chekhov’s classic, with Wallace Shawn as Vanya, Julianne Moore as Yelena, Brooke Smith as Sonya, and Larry Pine as Dr. Astrov. With a certain sad irony, this marvelously realized adaptation of a play about people wondering what they’ve done with their lives proved to be Louis Malle’s final film; he died of cancer in 1995.
